Deltec Homes Presented Export Achievement Award
Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Import Administration David Spooner presented an the Department’s Export Achievement Certificate to Deltec Homes, Inc. of Asheville, North Carolina in June 2006. Deltec Homes manufactures circular Southern Yellow Pine homes that withstand hurricane and other adverse environments, according to numerous recent and past media reports.
Deltec President David Hall accepted the award for exports to the Caribbean, Canada, and other world locations, assisted, in part, by the U.S. Commercial Service’s Export Assistance Center in Charlotte. “In a world buffeted by globalization, you have found your manufacturing niche," said Spooner, lauding the approx. 84 workers assembled to witness the ceremony at Deltec's 100k sq. ft. plant. Spooner also noted that manufacturers able to compete and export their goods pay their workers 18% higher on average than other factory jobs.
Deltec has garnered much media attention recently due to its structures’ hurricane survivability. Deltec Homes sustained no damage from the slew of hurricanes that ravaged the U.S in the last several years.
